After You Have Prayed, Do This

There was a beautiful sister in the fellowship that desired to get married and was praying fervently towards that. She would do the recommended kinds of prayer of calling forth her husband and believed strongly that he would appear before long; but year after year, nobody would propose marriage to her.

All these while, eligible men would be hanging around her and related well with her but they would not make a proposal finally.

After having this kind of experience for three consecutive years, in the fourth year

of her praying these Dominion prayers without getting the desired result, she entered into a fast and began to ask God to show her what was wrong with her, "Can't you see how you dress.

You look like a married woman. You love rings so much that you put ring on the wedding finger."

That was not all she was doing that put off prospective suitors. She loved children so much that every time children were seen around her. She often carried them and very easily, she could be taken for a mother.

As her Pastor, I knew that she was not married because she comes to share her longings and expectation with me and I have been praying for her in that direction. But the people out there do not know. People that could have married her would come around her, draw their conclusions about her marital status and go.

After the insight she received from her prayer and fasting, she pulled off the rings, stopped dressing in flowing "buba" gowns and began to dress in smarter dresses that were decent and modest. Again, she gave children some gap and stopped carrying her friends' children so often. Not long after she made these adjustments, two men came asking for her hand in marriage. She made her choice and I endorsed it.

The day we announced that she was getting married, brothers in church were weeping. One came up to me and said that God told him that the lady was his wife four years earlier but he thought she was already married and even had some children. One of the brothers walked up to her and said, "Why did you do this to me? Didn't you know that when I was hanging around you last year, I was interested in marrying you, but you were always with children whom I thought were your children? I thought you were married and your husband lives abroad and left you with the children."

I cautioned one of them not to let his wife hear what he was saying since he was now married to someone else.

The sister did not know that the situation was that bad until the Holy Spirit opened it up for her. The lesson that everyone will learn from her story is that after you have prayed for something, you should not present a picture that contradicts what you have prayed for.

JAMES 2:26

"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Whenever there is a separation of the spiritual from the body, death occurs. It takes the combined working of the body and the spirit to have life. It takes the combined working of the natural and the supernatural to have dominion.

Final Note:

Faith is spiritual or supernatural. Work is physical or natural. It takes the combined working of the natural and the spiritual to accomplish the extraordinary.
