For different categories of products there are known names – what we know as brands. Often, we have big names that we associate with better quality and of course higher prices. Over time, some names acquire a “designer status” and a product with that label is considered unique in its design; considered to be not-like-any-other. Those that are into things like bags and shoes can testify to this – when a bag or pair of shoe carries a designer label, there is an expectation of uniqueness, quality and inevitably cost.
For some products, that name, label or brand is in itself a guarantee to the buyer of quality hence that associated high cost. On the buyer’s side, we know that people feel very confident in the product, not necessarily because they know what went into making it, but because of the name it bears which authenticity has been proven over time. The stakes get even higher with things like artwork.
Some artists (some now long dead) have gained such recognition for their work that with time, their work is known simply by their name (eg. a Van Gogh, a Picasso) and it is their name that literally confers value on the art piece. We hear on the Red Carpet time and time again when celebrities are asked “Who are you wearing?” Essentially, it’s the manufacturer or originator who confers value on the product – and strives to establish this by putting their label on the product.

God made each one of us – and unique too. He hasn’t run out of ideas as evident in the fact that there are no two people with the same fingerprints and no two snowflakes with the same pattern. He is a Master Designer and you only need to look around you at nature to appreciate His artistry and creativity. He made you like no other – a single design that cannot be replicated; and for those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior, He redesigned (born-again) and put a label on them (His Spirit).
So the next time you (or anyone) question your worth as a person, remember that you are a designer product with a name/ label that has no match in its category. And the cost? Quite high – the Blood of Jesus! [1 Peter 1:18-19]
In a nutshell: You are worth so much because you are not a generic, mass produced good but a designer product. Your value is not from you but from your Maker whose name is on you. Don’t let anyone or any experiences you have make you think any less of yourself than God has made you. You are God’s Masterpiece!
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. [Ephesians 2:10; NLT]
13 For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well. [Psalms 139:13-14; NKJV]
TO DO: See yourself the way God sees you by seeing yourself through His eyes (God’s word). When your perception changes, your life also changes.
