Bible in one year: Proverbs 25
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith is the key ingredient to bring our desires and dreams to reality. The substance needed to bake a cake (what you hope for) includes flour, milk, sugar etc. Heb 11:1 is simply saying faith is what we add to our hope (expectation) to bring tangible results.
Faith is defined as belief with strong conviction; firm belief in something for which there may be no physical proof; complete trust, confidence, reliance or devotion. Faith is the opposite of doubt. Webster's New World College Dictionary defines faith as "unquestioning belief that does not require proof or evidence; unquestioning belief in God."
Faith is not the product of reason which limits man to this natural realm. Do not spend most of your time looking at the things you can see with your physical eyes, and believing what your natural senses tell us. The Bible makes it absolutely clear: Faith can overcome anything in this world order. There is literally no limit to what faith can do. Faith is possibly the single-most important element in the Christian life.
Let's look at a passage in the Bible that speak of faith: *Hebrews 11:6 states, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." (NIV)*
Faith, then, is key to pleasing God. We need faith first to come to God, to believe He exists and to trust Him for our needs.
CONFESSION: I believe in the Almighty God, the creator of the whole universe, I believe in His Son Jesus, who gave His life for me, I believe in the Holy Spirit and by faith I know that He LIVES IN ME. The greater One lives in me and therefore, nothing will bring me down.
PRAYERS: Thank you heavenly father for you have given me the gift of faith. I receive the God kind of faith to do the impossible in Jesus Name. Amen!
