Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures. The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. – Proverbs 8:10-24

The Bible says that wisdom is the principal thing ( Proverbs 4:7 ). When you don’t have money; you don’t have cars; you don’t have accommodation, and you don’t have anything worthwhile to call your own, the first thing to get is light – the wisdom and illumination that comes from God. Once you get this, you can use it to get all other things.

When God did not have a house, when He did not have angels, when He did not have planets, when He did not even have a throne, the first thing He had was light.

Speaking in Proverbs 8:22-26 , Wisdom said, “The LORD created me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth; before he had made the earth with its fields, or the first of the dust of the world” ( Prov. 8:22-26 ).

Before He could do any of the awesome things He did at creation, the Almighty God needed wisdom. He needed the illumination that comes through revelation. That was why the very first thing God created was light. “Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light” ( Genesis 1:3 ).

As you begin to draw or fine-tune your goals for the New Year, the very first thing you need to call forth is light. The light referred to here is revelation knowledge; wisdom; and insight. You need these to make any meaningful progress.

PRAYER :

Pray that you will be spiritually and mentally alert in this New Year.Pray that angels be released now to guide you and guard you in all your ways all through the year.

CONFESSION : Lord, the light of your word overpowers all darkness. Let your light shine in my heart and upon my ways.
