And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. – Luke 14:27-35
The world is yet to see the greatest move of God upon the face of the earth. She is yet to see the most bountiful harvest of souls into God’s kingdom. If Jesus tarries, the greatest inventions made by man are yet to be unearthed. The greatest organisations, businesses, charities, innovations, architectural edifices and social networks are yet to be birthed. The interesting part of this reality is that the vessel God will use to bring them into being is you that are reading these lines right now.
No human being in the present age or in the age to come is better equipped than you are to accomplish great things for God and mankind. The Dominion Mandate series make you understand that you are first a spirit being by reason of the indwelling presence of God inside you. Then you are a human being which makes you a legitimate representative of God on earth. (Genesis 1:26; 2:7).
As you step out to conquer your world, you have to count the cost of what you are venturing into; then you can be surefooted in its pursuit. J. F. Kennedy did exactly the same in the space project we saw yesterday. He said to the people, “Let it be clear that I am asking the Congress and the country to accept a firm commitment to a new course of action, a course which will last for many years and carry very heavy costs: 531 million dollars in fiscal year ’62–an estimated 7 to 9 billion dollars additional over the next five years.”
Count the cost, but don’t be deterred. “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23).
PRAYER: Take stock of the numerous gifts God has endowed you with and thank Him for them.
Commit your life to greater service to God and man.
CONFESSION: The extraordinary God in me has empowered me to do extraordinary things. Together, we cannot fail.
