THURSDAY 10TH JANUARY, 2019
Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me; There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god. I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels. Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries. The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever. He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee. Psalms 81:8-16
On May 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy of the US announced his goal of putting a man on the moon by the end of the decade. He gave a historic speech before a joint session of Congress that set the United States on a course to the moon. In one of his numerous speeches to sell the vision to Americans, J. F. Kennedy said, “If not us; who? If not now, when?
Two and half years after giving the historic speech, President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, but the seed he sowed in the hearts of his people lived on. Just over eight years after the speech, on July 20, 1969, NASA’s Apollo 11 mission landed the first humans on the moon.
God-given ability is available to you, even today, to accomplish the seemingly impossible and unimaginable. The first step to victory is to know precisely what you desire to accomplish. You have to believe implicitly that the goal is achievable and you have to declare so, just as Kennedy did in his speech to the Congress and in his famous quote. You then have to pull all your resources together and give the task all the dedication needed to see it through.
God lives inside you. He is a big God that delights in doing big things. He said to His people, “Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.” ( Psalms 81:10 ). Aim high this year and trust God to help you attain and exceed them. In whatever corner you exercise leadership; you need to set more audacious goals.
Ask God to illuminate your heart and heal you of poverty and scarcity mentality.
Ask God to give you visions of great things and strategies for their accomplishment.
Pray for the spirit of wisdom and revelation.
CONFESSION : I can accomplish far more than I am doing now. The enabling power of God is always available to help me.
