My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. – 1 John 2:1-7
You may know some Christians that burn enormous energy fighting “their enemies”. You may even be among those that accept that any time things are not working the way they desire, then, there is “an enemy” working against them somewhere. Yes, the bible says we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers… (Eph. 6:12). But the greatest enemy that you must fight and win is the enemy within you. By His death and resurrection, Jesus defeated the devil, recovered the authority he took away from man and handed that authority back to man. In Matthew 28:18-19, Jesus said to his followers, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” in Luke 10:19, He said to them,“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
The weapon with which the devil fights you is not his “power” but his “wiles” (Ephesians 6:11). The wiles of the devil refer to his tricks, enticements, baits, lies, manipulations and his deceptions. The remedy that will shield you from being lured away by the wiles of the devil is given in 1 John 2:15-16: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world.”
PRAYER : Cast your cares upon Jesus who cares for you.
Pray that you escape the corruption that is in this world and help others to do so.
Uproot everything in you that is not planted by God.
CONFESSION : The victory of Jesus over the devil is my victory. I am Christ’s instrument for destroying the works of the devil
